NAF is a national nonprofit working to solve some of the biggest challenges facing education and workforce development by bringing together education, business, and community leaders to transform the high school experience and plant the seeds for a diverse and highly skilled talent pipeline. NAF academies help to close the skills gap by providing rigorous coursework and early connections to the workplace, empowering students to explore career options in a variety of industries, acquire technical skills, and pave the way toward a successful career.

NAF started as one NAF Academy of Finance in New York City in 1980 and has grown to more than 600 academies across the country serving students facing significant barriers to access. NAF academies focus on growing industries including finance, hospitality and tourism, information technology, engineering, and health sciences.

Companies partner with NAF is order to help develop these students via work-based learning and mentoring programs and also embrace the NAF students as qualified, diverse internship applicants, so they can begin to build their talent pipeline early on – while students are in high school and making important decisions about their futures.

During the 2019-2020 school year, over 110,000 students attended 620 NAF academies across 34 states, plus DC, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. In 2019, NAF academies reported 99% of seniors graduated with 86% of graduates planning to go to college. Within North Carolina, there are 52 NAF academies and over 10,000 eager students who can benefit from business partners sharing their time and expertise to help prepare them for college and career success.

TODAY’S high school students are TOMORROW’S future leaders.
