Research Triangle Park (RTP) is a public/private, planned research park, created in 1959 by leaders from business, academia and industry. But the idea of creating a research park started many years before. To promote university, academic, industry and government collaborations leading to the establishment and maintenance of research, scientific and technology-based facilities within the Triangle and North Carolina, creating quality jobs and opportunities for its citizens.
