The Research Triangle Regional Partnership is a public-private partnership representing the economic interests of a 13-county region. RTRP promotes the region worldwide and works to attract investment from successful businesses that can well serve the region and its mix of rural and urban areas. RTRP focuses its marketing efforts to attract corporate investments primarily from 10 clusters of industry and innovation: Pharmaceuticals, Biological agents and infectious diseases, Agricultural biotechnology, Pervasive computing, Advanced medical care, Analytical instrumentation, Nanoscale technologies, Informatics, Vehicle component parts, and Logistics and distribution. RTRP is leading implementation of the regional economic development strategy, called ?Staying on Top: Winning the Job Wars of the Future.? The $5 miillion, five-year plan aims to create 100,000 new jobs in the region and boost employment in all 13 counties. RTRP also works collaboratively with ?institutional partners? from business, government, academia and the nonprofit sector to identify and address economic development issues, such transportation, education and workforce improvement). RTRP?s 54-member board of directors comprises representatives from each of the 13-counties. The board advises and oversee RTRP initiatives. A Regional Advisory Committee of economic developers from each county meets monthly to plan and implement strategic marketing efforts.
