Who we are:

The North Carolina Technology Association (NC TECH) is the statewide industry group for the tech sector. All companies, organizations and institutions are eligible for membership, given that technology is integral to all enterprises. NC TECH was incorporated in 1993 and represents 600+ members that collectively employ over 250,000 North Carolinians.


About the position:

This position is responsible for supporting the wide range of events and activities hosted by NC TECH to include but not limited to signature events, programs (in-person + virtual) and executive networks.  Support will include sponsor coordination + benefit delivery, registration management, expense tracking, event/activities CRM and website management and collaboration to promote to achieve/exceed revenue and attendance goals. This position will own a portfolio of programs and activities to include virtual programs and meetings, member workshops/webinars, regional networking events, and other similar offerings. This role will provide general support to include billing for sponsorships, pre-event + on-site coordination, event + mobile app setup, assisting with registration and inbound phone/online support. 


Responsibilities and Duties


Support NC TECH Programming

  • Support all programming (events, programs, and networks) for NC TECH members with the objective of delivering an excellent experience and growing attendance/revenue.
  • Support planning and execution of all programming to include setup in GrowthZone and event page, assist in coordinating sponsor benefits, logistics planning, promotion to drive attendance and onsite/virtual coordination.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of Signature Events including to manage registration process, review attendee lists, prepare badges, print signage, transport items, etc.
  • Assist with overseeing facilities and all event details such as decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material, etc.
  • Assist with on-site logistics at events to include venue set up, staging, registration, attendee flow and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in the development, tracking and delivery of post-event statistics to be shared with sponsors and attendees. 
  • Assist in the management of Peer Networks including executive networks (CIO, CISO, Tech CEO, Site Leaders, etc.) and Interest Networks (D+I, Women in Tech, etc.) with backend logistics for roundtables, receptions, and dinners.
  • Coordinate the delivery of programming to include webinars, executive conversations, regional networking activities, government activities, special events, etc.
  • Collaborate to promote programming calendar to ensure content shared in newsletters, promotional emails, social media and other means is intended to drive attendance/revenue.
  • Research what other groups are doing so that we remain on the forefront of programming and program delivery to include event production, material design, sponsorship options etc. so that NC TECH is fresh and current in its offerings and materials.

Support Digital Experience

  • Collaborate with communications manager to develop and execute digital campaigns to promote programming.
  • Assist in the timely and accurate management of event pages on the website to ensure complete and up-to-date information is available to our members and presented in a way that drives interest and engagement. 
  • Manage backend setup and execution of virtual event platforms to include but not limited to hosting virtual meetings/events, managing Q+A/chat functions and recording to be added to NC TECH’s YouTube channel.
  • Provide recommendations for additional digital experience opportunities to include in programming throughout the year to improve member engagement and bring value to sponsors and attendees.

Provide Office Support

  • Assist with the invoicing and collection of sponsorship and attendee revenue.
  • Assist with general office coverage including phones, online chat and contact forms to triage inbound inquiries.
  • Utilize professional and effective oral, written and listening skills to provide exceptional service to members.
  • Participate in pre- and on-site staffing at NC TECH events and programs, with occasional overnight travel.

  • Savvy with tech tools to improve engagement and member experience
  • Professional and confident to engage with leaders at all levels
  • A team player with a can-do mindset

 

What you’ll need to Be successful: 

  • Enthusiastic about working in one of the most vibrant sectors of the economy
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, preferred 3-5+ years of experience in event planning, hospitality, and/or fundraising.
  • Familiarity and experience working with associations, chambers, non-profits, etc. a plus.
  • Knowledge of and contacts within North Carolina business and tech community is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including the capability to work with executives and staff of all levels.
  • Ability to take initiative, manage multiple detail-oriented projects simultaneously and prioritize assignments with an eye towards speed and             accuracy.
  • Superb time management.
  • Good collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), use of the web, savvy with social media and an aptitude to quickly           learn and comfortably use other various technology platforms including CRM systems and prospect databases.
  • Ability for limited travel as well as some morning/evening commitments.
